Three bags I retired after buying my tote

3 Bags I Stopped Using After Purchasing This Bag

We have all left the house with either no bags or far too many but what if there was a way to always be ready no matter what the day throws at you. I didn’t expect one bag to change my entire bag rotation… but when something works as well as this bag I'm not surprised.

Once this bag entered the rotation I noticed I stopped reaching for three others without even trying to. Instead I ditched the excess and let my Harp and Ra tote come with me everywhere.

Wanna know the breakdown ?

1. The Mini Shoulder Bag (aka: Cute but Stressful)

This was my going-out, coffee-date, “I just need the essentials” bag. Super cute. Very aesthetic however it was extremely small.

How small do you ask ? It fits my phone, cardholder and if I'm lucky a lip balm. For an overpacking person like myself who likes something for everything life can throw at me, this just wasn’t working for me.

I loved how it looked, but I was constantly rearranging things or leaving stuff behind. Once I had a bag that still looked good but actually fit my life, this one stopped making sense for everyday use.

2. The Canvas Grocery Tote

If I was lucky to remember this one and not leave it sitting by the door it came out with me for the occasional errands and weekly shopping.

It was practical… but not something I’d bring to work, a café, or anywhere I wanted to feel put together. I always had to switch bags depending on what I was doing, which honestly felt like too much effort.

Now that I have one bag that works for errands and everyday plans, this tote is taking its vacation in the back of my cupboard.

3. The Medium Crossbody Bag

This used to be my everyday bag, the one I thought was “big enough.”

Turns out, it wasn’t.

Once my days got fuller, I started carrying more: sunglasses, a planner or book, reusable bag, chargers, random essentials. The crossbody fit some of it, but never all of it comfortably. I was always deciding what to leave behind.

Having a bag that fits my entire day without me needing to compromise has completely replaced this one.

Why This One Bag Replaced All Three

What I’ve realised is that I don’t want a different bag for every version of my life. I want one bag that can keep up with me.

My days are rarely just one thing. I might leave the house for coffee and end up running errands, working, meeting friends, or being out way longer than planned. This bag handles all of it without me needing to switch or rethink.

It’s big enough to carry what I actually use, structured enough to still look good, and easy enough to grab without overthinking. That’s why it slowly replaced three other bags without me even noticing.

So yes, those bags still technically exist in my wardrobe.

But this is the one that comes with me every day, and honestly, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
